Just a few arcminutes from the Orion Nebula lies the Running Man Nebula. The nebula is called the Running Man for fairly obvious reasons: it looks like a man running. The Running Man nebula has not been studied in too much detail up to now, but it is known that the nebula is illuminated from radiation from the star 42 Orionis, the bright star just left of center in the Running Man Nebula. It has been estimated that the nebula is around 7 light-years across and 1,500 light-years away.
